// AI in practice

AI that starts with the work.

AI can make useful work easier. The best place to start is with how the business works today.

I’ve seen a lot of technology change since I started as a part-time help desk technician. Along the way, I’ve learned new systems, built things, figured out why they weren’t working, and helped other people get comfortable using them.

01Why now

A new set of things to learn, build, and share.

Now we’re here with AI, and I’m excited about what we can do with it. I’m using it in my own work, building projects, experimenting, and helping businesses put it to use.

02Start here

Understand the business before choosing the tool.

That starts with understanding the business: how people work, what systems they depend on, where information gets stuck, and what takes more effort than it should. From there, I help choose the tools, get them set up with the right information, and work with the team until people feel comfortable using them.

03Make it useful

Improve the work, then support the people doing it.

I also look for ways to improve the work itself. That might mean automating a recurring report, making company knowledge easier to find, connecting information across systems, or simplifying a process that has grown more complicated than it needs to be. My background in support and operations helps me see how those pieces fit together, including what needs to happen behind the scenes to keep them working.

I can take that work from the first conversation through setup, testing, training, and documentation, and stay involved as the team puts it into practice. The useful improvements often become clearer once people start using the tools in their everyday work.

I’m self-taught, so I know what it feels like to face something unfamiliar. Learning it myself and helping someone else understand it have always gone together for me. AI gives me a whole new set of things to explore and share.
